We go well beyond the 16 squares of Blacksburg with missions spanning several countries. Learn more about our international missions!

Blacksburg Refugee Partnership

Blacksburg Refugee Partnership supports more than 3 dozen refugees in southwest Virginia. We are especially working with an Afghan mother, and her four children.

Days For Girls

A nonprofit organization that prepares and distributes sustainable menstrual health kits for girls who would otherwise miss school during their monthly periods.

Guatemala

Summer mission teams work in San Juan la Laguna with Impacto Ministry, a Christian non-profit agency. Teams have worked with children, houses for low-income families, the elderly and led women’s retreats.

Kyiv, Ukraine

BUMC has been in partnership with Spring of Life Methodist Church in Kyiv for over twenty-four years. We continue to support the congregational needs and their work with refugees and a refugee center throughout the ongoing war.

Global Ministries Missionary

We support missionaries working both in Liberia and North Macedonia.

Methodist e-Academy

and Endowment Fund for Theological Education (Europe, Africa, Philippines): Teaches theology through internet-based distance education to develop pastors rooted in the Methodist tradition and supports the strengthening of theology education in Europe, Africa and the Philippines.

Rise Against Hunger

Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable. We have packed meals and raised the money to send them.

UMCOR

The United Methodist Committee on Relief comes alongside those who suffer from natural or human-caused disasters to alleviate suffering. We have sent volunteers and assembled and donated “flood buckets” of disaster supplies.

Jesus’ final words to his disciples, just before ascending into Heaven, were “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) The disciples were commissioned to spread the Gospel beginning in Jerusalem to the surrounding areas of Judea and Samaria and - ultimately - to the ends of the earth.
