COMMUNITY MISSIONS IN BLACKSBURG IS OUR JUDEA

Across Blacksburg and the New River Valley we partner with, aid, and operate several organizations. Check out the many ways we are serving in community!

Community Garden

At 706 Harding we have a garden to grow produce for the Interfaith Food Pantry.

Hermitage Guild

Members of area Methodist churches dedicate their time to enriching the lives of residents of the Hermitage in Roanoke.

Montgomery County Christmas Store

The Montgomery County Christmas Store (MCCS) is a non-denominational, all-volunteer, community-wide, non-profit organization that assists eligible low-income individuals and families in Montgomery County during the Christmas Season by providing a shopping experience characterized by choice and dignity.

Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program

This is a non-profit that serves the immediate, emergency, and temporary needs of low-income, unemployed, elderly or handicapped individuals and families.

FUN143

Fun143 is an outreach ministry to the people of the Hollins Estates community where we bring love, grace, and academic help to the students. Through our twice weekly sessions, we build on kids' natural curiosity and desire to learn more. Volunteers spend time helping kids grow as learners and as people.

Habitat For Humanity

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. We build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.

Micah's Backpack

We collect for Micah’s Backpack to provide food for kids over the weekends.

NRVGlean

The NRVGlean Team collects leftover food from local farms for the benefit of the hungry.

The Common Ingredient

The Common Ingredient NRV is a website that celebrates the centrality of food in our lives while providing information on food insecurity resources in the NRV.

Home To Stay

This church program provides last-resort assistance to people in the 23% poverty level in the NRV stay at home by sharing rental assistance, assistance with rental deposits to get into a home, help with utilities, and potentially funding emergency housing where needed.

Interfaith Food Pantry

This volunteer-run pantry serves families of Blacksburg and McCoy.

To Our House

This provides winter shelter for homeless adults in the New River Valley and connects them with resources that lead to employment, housing, and personal economic sustainability.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministers are congregation members trained to offer care to people who are hurting.

Women's Resource Center

The Women’s Resource Center is a non-profit, human service organization, providing programs and services to adult and child victims of sexual and domestic violence.

VA Annual Conference Mission Support

We support missions of the Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. In the past, these missions have included collecting disaster relief supplies, donating blood, and more!
