AT HOME MISSIONS

JERUSALEM

AT HOME IN BLACKSBURG IS OUR JERUSALEM

Several SERVE ministries are offered right here at Blacksburg UMC each week - including Alcoholics Anonymous, the Prayer Shawl Ministry, Red Cross Drives, and more. Check out the at home missions we sponsor here at BUMC!

Alcoholics Anonymous

Different AA groups meet in our building six days per week to provide group support and assistance to those struggling with alcohol addiction.

Balance Class

A program to assist a group of seniors (members and non-members) to develop skills to better cope with balance issues. The class meets at the Harding Ave. Campus (706 Harding Ave., Blacksburg, VA 24060) on each Wednesday from 10:00am - 11:00am.

Social Justice

This BUMC-based group is involved in social justice issues. They have hosted educational events, tables on gun violence prevention and safe firearm storage, and sales of fair trade coffee, chocolate and tea; offered voter engagement activities; and they hold a semi-annual children’s consignment sale to support local charities.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

A group of women who meet monthly to knit shawls for women and lap robes for men who are on the prayer list and others. They also knit baby bonnets for the Montgomery County Christmas Store.

Red Cross Drives

We host blood drives in our fellowship hall several times througout the year. Contact our parish nurse for more information!

Surviving Spouses

A group which meets weekly at rotating homes of widow and widowers from BUMC and other churches, plus once a month at a restaurant for dinner.

TOPS

A group of community women desiring to lose weight who meet once per week in our building.
