Current COVID-19 Precautions

Out of a desire to continue ministry while keeping people as safe as possible, here is a summary of our current precautions.  Copies of our full mitigation plans can be obtained through the church office (contact Shannon Dillon -

  • At this time, all food services are to take place outdoors, with masking and distancing required.  Pre-packaged meals are recommended

  • For all inside gatherings of 20 or less, masks may be optional if all group members are in agreement and all members of the group are fully vaccinated (currently applies to Church St. campus only).

  • For all outdoor gatherings of children ages 0-12, all adult leaders and children over the age of 2 must be masked at all times with social distancing maintained.

  • At this time, the kitchen in the Whisner building is closed.

  • Masks are required for all unvaccinated persons as well as all persons when interacting with BUMC staff and congregants.

  • In regard to home visitation, porch visits are preferred for the safety of both parties. At home visits, masks will continue to be required indoors and may be made optional outdoor for all fully vaccinated people. There is currently a limit to one home visitation per day.

  • Worship:

    • Masks are currently required in all worship services to protect our worshipping communities.

BUMC Small Group Requirements - Church St. 

Building and room space will be limited during this time. All room reservations and inquiries for BUMC Small Groups (Church St. Campus only) can be directed to our Director of Administration, Shannon Dillon via email ( or by phone at (540) 552-5424 ex. 0.

Non-church affiliated and other community groups interested in room reservations should direct inquiries to Associate Pastor Jennifer Fletcher ( or Chair of the Trustees Committee Keith Davis ( for approval.
