Missions

Kiev Christmas Videos:  We have received some Christmas videos from our friends in Kiev.  The videos have been put on some CDs and are available by contacting the church office.  If you want to view the videos from your computer, go to http://vimeo.com/bumchurch/kiev2 (or just click on this web address).

From the United Methodist web site:

Everyone can be great because everyone can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t even have to make your subject and your verb agree… You only need a heart full of grace…a soul generated by love.” —Martin Luther King, Jr.

United Methodists have believed, from the beginning, that each of us is called to participate in the outreaching ministry of Jesus Christ. John Wesley described this work in simple, practical  terms: “Do all the good you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can.”

Putting our faith into action is at the very heart of our Christian calling. By volunteering to serve through programs such as United Methodist Volunteers in Mission or the Mission Volunteers program of The General Board of Global Ministries, every person in the church has the opportunity to serve and to live their calling more faithfully.

Trailer for Mission Trips

Blacksburg United Methodist Church (BUMC) has recently purchased a trailer for use on mission trips with the stated focus:  Respond – Rebuild – Rebirth

The committee is still looking to fill the trailer with tools that can be used on these trips and in the local community.  Any donations will be appreciated.  Chick here to see their fundraising page.

We will be adding a place to volunteer in general and specifically, soon. In the mean time, if you have an interest in any way, shape or form, please send an email to volunteer@bumcmissions.org.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers embody Christian love in action by bringing their diverse talents to mission programs, local outreach ministries, and emergency response and recovery work around the world.

Members of Blacksburg United Methodist Church BUMC) have been involved in many mission opportunities over the years.  On this web site we have provided links that show the various programs available for Local Opportunities, Domestic Programs, International Programs, and Emergency Response Training.  There’s bound to be something for you!

Photographs taken for any mission activity might be used on the website or in a church publication.  The BUMC Photo Release Form should be printed, completed, and sent to the specific local mission leader or to the church office.
