Adult Ministries
Your walk in faith is a life-long journey. Blacksburg United Methodist Church (BUMC) offers a variety of opportunities for adults to engage in Christian education on Sunday mornings. All classes meet from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. We invite you to visit our classes and find one that fits you.
College Class meets at the Wesley Foundation at 209 W. Roanoke Street. The class will be looking at Jesus’ message of acceptance, love, and truth, as we try to dig a little deeper into God. We will look at culture and Christianity and how we can carry Jesus’ message of salvation to those around us. We will also try to get a better grip on what it means to be a Christ follower in a college atmosphere. For more information, please contact Rev. Bret Gresham (wesfound@vt.edu, 552-2827).
Families with Young Children meets in Room 104 of the Education Building. Expectant parents and parents of early elementary children are invited to be members. Newborns and children in need of a little extra attention are welcome to join mom and/or dad in class. We focus on topics of concern to families and encourage spiritual growth in a supportive fellowship. Faye Crist, Joe and Marjorie Marcy lead this class (951-3901, mafiamom@verizon.net).
Gunnar Teilmann Class meets in the Central Conference Room (Room 114). This class is named for a former assistant pastor of BUMC who also served as a Methodist missionary in Singapore. All are welcome to join the class as we study God’s Word using the Holy Bible as its primary text. George Miller is the contact person (552-2712, vfrmiller@hotmail.com).
Koinonia Class meets in Room 203 of the Education Building. The class invites people of all ages and stages to join in a study of Methodist beliefs using the book This We Believe by Will Willimon. For more information, please contact Cindy Wood (953-2508, piglady@vt.edu).
