CAREGIVERS’ SUPPORT GROUP
CAREGIVERS’ SUPPORT GROUP
The BUMC Caregivers’ Support Group began in February 2007. The group shares the joys, frustrations, and fears of caring for a loved one in a supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere. The meetings open with a healing prayer. Educational materials, speakers, and other resources are made available as needed by the members. The group meets the second and fourth Thursdays of the month from 5:30pm-7pm in Room 213 in the Education Building. The facilitator is Jan Notter, one of the Parish Nurses.
Recent speakers include Allison Galway, Director of Adult Day Services at VT who spoke about dementia, Jennifer Bullock, Director of Pulaski Rehab Center, who spoke about the facility and the care provided and Kathryn Allen, Professor of Human Development at VT who discussed sibling interactions in relation to caring for our parents.
