Meet the Staff



The Rev. Reginald “Reggie” Tuck is a native of Roanoke and attended Virginia Commonwealth University for his undergraduate training. He received a Masters of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Masters of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He also holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Virginia Union University. Mr. Tuck has also studied at the Hebrew Union University-Jewish Institute of Religion in Jerusalem, Wesley Theological Seminary and the University of Virginia. He has served pastoral appointments at Sayreville United Methodist Church (New Jersey), Messiah United Methodist Church and Springfield United Methodist Church in Springfield, Virginia, Weyers Cave United Methodist Church, Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Alexandria, Virginia, and The Brandermill Church in Midlothian, Virginia. Reggie is married to Catherine McCollough who is a minister in the Presbyterian Church, USA and a Pastoral Counselor with a practice in Blacksburg. Reggie and Cathy enjoy their two daughters, Monica and Nadia.




The Rev. Sung I. Yoo is a native of The Republic of Korea (South Korea) and came to The United States in 1998. He attended The Methodist Theological Seminary in South Korea for his undergraduate degree and received the Masters of Divinity degree at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary (GETS) in Illinois. Sung was ordained as a full elder at the Virginia Annual Conference in 2008. He is completing his Ph.D. at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, exploring the theme of Christology in a postmodern context. He has served an appointment at Oakwood United Methodist Church on the Farmville District. Sung is married to Wonsoon who holds a Masters of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and a Masters of Social Work degree from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. Sung and Wonsoon enjoy their son John, often called John the Methodist.



The Rev. Leigh Anne Taylor is a Deacon in Full Connection who serves BUMC as Minister of Music. She received her Bachelor of Music Education from James Madison University and her Master of Music in Choral Conducting and Master of Sacred Music from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She served churches in Texas and Kansas before coming home to Virginia. She is the mother of Emma and Taylor, hiker of mountain trails, reader of good books, lover of nature and grateful counter of many blessings.



Tindal Snider grew up in Florida before attending Davidson College in North Carolina, where she earned a degree in religion. After college, she moved to Virginia, living first in Richmond, where she earned a masters degree in special education at Virginia Commonwealth University, and then coming to Blacksburg, where she has lived for ten years. Tindal worked as a special education teacher at Shawsville Elementary School for five years before acquiring the new job title of mother. She also worked as a tutor and homebound teacher before becoming the Coordinator of Children's Ministries at BUMC. Tindal has one son. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and outdoor activities.



Darryl McCallum was born and raised in Vinton, Virginia. Church and sports played a major role in his life in his childhood. Darryl graduated from William Byrd High School (with Honors) in 2000 and enrolled at Virginia Tech the following August. He has earned a degree a Secondary Education. As long as he can remember, Darryl has had a great desire to work with youth. Darryl has been working with church youth groups since he graduated from high school. He has lead and worked many youth retreats around Virginia and North Carolina. Darryl has also worked as the interim minister of Youth at Blacksburg United Methodist since May of 2003. Since his arrival, the youth have benefited from trips around the south and even to the great state of Arizona. Darryl looks forward to an eventful and fun-filled future at Blacksburg United Methodist.



Glenn Tyndall has served as Campus Minister and Director of the Wesley Foundation since 1974. He is an ordained minister and a member of the Virginia Annual Conference. Prior to coming to Virginia Tech, Glenn was Youth Minister and Associate Pastor at Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg. A native of Kinston, NC, he was educated at Duke University, Duke Divinity School, and Wake Forest University. In addition to his love for campus ministry and students, Glenn is an avid sports fan, especially the Duke Blue Devils (in basketball), the Virginia Tech Hokies (in football), the Boston Red Sox, and the Washington Redskins. Glenn is married to LaVina Tyndall, who also works at Wesley as a Counselor/Administrative Assistant. They have two adult children, Cherye and Brad, who both are Wesley alums, and who both live in South Riding in Northern Virginia. Glenn and LaVina have three grandchildren, Madden and Maeleigh Moore, and Macy Tyndall. Cherye ('95) is married to Wesley alum Stephen Moore ('95), and Brad is married to Wesley alum Sara Quillin ('00).



Herb Hobbs is Pastor Emeritus of Blacksburg United Methodist Church. He is a retired member of the Virginia Annual Conference, following 42 years of active ministry in the conference. He began his ministry at the White Stone Charge, White Stone Virginia, Rappahannock District, in 1959. Following this appointment, he served Princess Anne Plaza United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach, for five years, then became the first full time chaplain at Ferrum College, a United Methodist College in Ferrum, Va. After eighteen years as chaplain, he was appointed to Baylake United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach, where he remained for six years before being appointed to BUMC. Educated at Randolph-Macon College (English major), Duke University Divinity School(M. Div.) Married for 49 years to Evelyn. Father of two children, Karen and Steve; grandfather of three. From 1993 to just recently, he served as “chaplain” for the Virginia Tech football team.



Pastor Gustavo Alberto Segovia Molley: Graduado del Seminario Metodista “Juan Wesley” (95-99), pastor de tiempo completo del 99-02. Para el año del 2003 y 2004 estudios de maestría (SETECA) en la ciudad de Guatemala Centro América y experiencia como misionero en esta misma fecha en Chiapas, Honduras, Guatemala. Ordenado presbítero en el verano del 2003. Verano del 2005, se inicia el Ministerio Hispano en Virginia, bajo la cobertura de Blacksburg United Methodist Church. Y a principios del 2006 se extiende el ministerio a la ciudad vecina de Roanoke.

Pastor Gustavo Alberto Segovia Molley is a graduate from the Methodist Seminary “Juan Wesley" (95-99) and served as a full-time minister from the 1999-2002. During the year of 2003 and 2004, Pastor Segovia was enrolled in a program for a Masters degree (SETECA) in Guatemala, Center America and served as a missionary during this same time in Chiapas (South of Mexico), Honduras, Guatemala. He was ordained an Elder in the summer of the 2003. In the summer of the 2005, Pastor Segovia began the Hispanic Ministry at Blacksburg United Methodist Church. He expanded his ministry in 2006 to include the city of Roanoke.




Carter Edmondson, originally from Victoria, Virginia, moved to Blacksburg to attend Virginia Tech. After completing his degree in Horticulture Education and managing a retail establishment in Blacksburg, he returned to school at Radford University, completing a degree in Music Education with concentrations in voice and organ. He has taught classes at Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, the Blacksburg YMCA, Belle Heth Elementary School in Radford, and is currently the choral director at Fort Chiswell Middle and High Schools in Wythe county where he teaches choral music, general music classes, and music for special needs students. Before becoming full time organist at BUMC in 2003, Carter shared the position for three years with former BUMC organist Virginia Bethune prior to her retirement. In addition to many musical interests, Carter enjoys vacationing at the beach and spending time with his family.



Church Administrator - Judy Davis
Judy grew up in Roanoke. She earned her bachelors degree from Mary Baldwin College. Her former postition was with University Development at Virginia Tech. Judy enjoys playing the violin and is a member of the Blacksburg Community Strings.





Charlie Gray is our Full-time Physical Facilities Caretaker. Charlie grew up in Blacksburg and worked for Marriott in landscaping before coming to his position at the church. Charlie continues with landscaping and has a business of his own now. Charlie is a hard worker and you’re apt to see him working in a number of places. He works at Carolee Donuts and at the Cooper House and Newman Center. When Charlie relaxes, he enjoys watching his two favorite football teams, the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Dallas Cowboys. Charlie is also a big NASCAR fan (probably because he races around so much himself!). Charlie is married to Wanda and they have two daughters.



Walter Jarels is a part-time Physical Facilities Caretaker and he is on site early in the mornings! Walter grew up in Whitethorne, Virginia and worked many years in construction. He worked on the Coliseum at Virginia Tech while he was employed with T. C. Brittan out of Atlanta. He also worked with Moss Associates at the Celanese Plant in Narrows. Walter started his own janitorial business over twenty years ago. He also takes care of The Wesley Foundation and several physicians’ offices. Walter is married to Frances and they have four children, eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In his free time, Walter enjoys visiting historical sites. Walter has been a Deacon at his church for twenty-five years.
