Vocal Choirs

Chancel Choir

You are invited to join the Blacksburg United Methodist Church (BUMC) Chancel Choir. This dedicated group of adults provides music for the 11:00 a.m. traditional worship service three Sundays a month from September to June and is the foundation for the Oratorio Choir (see Special Opportunities). We rehearse on Wednesdays from 7:30-9:00 p.m. in Room 118.  Childcare is provided free of charge. Contact director Leigh Anne Taylor at music@blacksburgumc.org.

Early Service Ensemble

This “early bird” ensemble provides music for the 8:45 a.m. traditional worship service two-three Sunday mornings per month, August to June.  We rehearse at 8:15 a.m. in Room 118 on the anthem for the day. NEW! Worship Arts for Youth Choir

For Youth Grades 6-12.  Meets Wednesday 6:30-7:30 p.m. in Room 118/211, September-May. Youth Choir members will sing for 30 minutes with Ms. Leigh Anne in Room 118 and explore various worship arts such as drumming, handbells, and drama with Ms. Cindy for 30 minutes in Room 211.  Youth Choir will serve as worship leaders in Intersections and traditional worship once a month and enjoy a Fall Retreat, Youth Choir JAM in Richmond, participating in the Christmas Musical, the May Music Ministry Celebration and Music and Liturgical Arts Week at Lake Junaluska NC, June 24-29, 2012.  Contacts: Leigh Anne Taylor, music@blacksburgumc.org and Cindy Blevins, blev4skid@verizon.net

Cherub Choir

Cherub Choir is for children ages 3-5 (pre-k). We will meet Wednesdays, 5:30-6 p.m. in Room 110, September to May. Highlights of the Cherub Choir year include occasionally participating in worship, the Children’s Christmas Musical in December and the May Music Ministry Celebration.  Contact co-directors Lorraine Clark or Reilly Blevins at blev4skid@verizon.net. 

NEW! Worship Arts for Angel Choir

Angel Choir is for children grades kindergarten to second grade. We will meet Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30 p.m. in Rooms 118 and 211, September to May.  Angel Choir members will explore various worship arts such as drumming, hand chimes, movement and drama with Ms. Cindy for 30 minutes in Room 211, and sing for 30 minutes with Ms. Leigh Anne in Room 118.  Angels will participate in worship leadership in Intersections and traditional worship once a month and present a Christmas and May musical.
